CRADLE OF FILTH To Resume Work On Orchestral Album Next Month

British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH will return to the studio in December to resume work on their next project, an orchestral album titled "Midnight In The Labyrinth", which, according to vocalist Dani "Filth" Davey, will "reinvent" tracks from the band's first four albums and include "full soundtrack-quality stuff... with choirs, strings and some narration." A studio date of December 5 has been set for "big choirs to be added to the haunting melee," Filth writes in his latest online update. "All songs will be fully orchestrated akin to a horror movie soundtrack (think Danny Elfman, John Williams, Christopher Young, etc.) and are comprised solely of tracks from our first four releases" — 1996 EP "Vempire Or Dark Faerytales In Phallustein", 1994's "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh", 1996's "Dusk... And Her Embrace" and 1998's "Cruelty And The Beast" — "'Funeral In Carpathia' being my favorite conversion thus far."

CRADLE OF FILTH will embark on its first North American tour since 2009, a headlining run dubbed "FEARnet and Decibel Presents: Creatures From The Black Abyss Tour", in February 2011. Support on the trek will come from NACHTMYSTIUM, TURISAS and DANIEL LIONEYE.

CRADLE OF FILTH's new album, "Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa", was released on November 1 through Peaceville Records on the band's own AbraCadaver imprint (November 9 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records).

"Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa" is, in the words of Dani Filth, "without doubt the fastest and most brutal album we've created to date. As an acquaintance of the band so aptly noted, this is like 'IRON MAIDEN on crack in a graveyard of angels!' This album is CRADLE at our most sinister and darkened fairytale," continues Dani. "A gothic horror themed slay-ride of fervour and perversion; yet amidst the orchestral melodrama and lush, cinematic production, there sits stalwart a ravening beast of furious riffing, flesh ripping vocals and monstrous, unstoppable percussion."
